Senior Analyst, ASEAN Geopolitics

About the Role

As a Senior Analyst for ASEAN Geopolitics based in our Manila headquarters, you will be at the forefront of Providentia's research on Southeast Asia. You will analyze the evolving political, economic, and security landscapes of the ASEAN member states, providing actionable foresight to our global clients.

This role requires a deep understanding of regional institutional frameworks, bilateral relationships, and the impact of broader geopolitical shifts (such as US-China competition) on the region. You will work closely with our global network of experts to deliver nuanced, independent intelligence.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct rigorous, primary research on political developments, regulatory changes, and security issues across Southeast Asia.
• Author high-impact strategic reports, policy briefs, and risk assessments for corporate and institutional clients.
• Monitor and analyze the strategic implications of major infrastructure projects and economic corridors within the Mekong Basin.
• Engage with local policymakers, academic institutions, and industry leaders to cultivate a robust intelligence network.
• Present findings at high-level briefings, conferences, and media engagements, representing Providentia as a regional thought leader.

Qualifications

• Master's degree or Ph.D. in International Relations, Political Science, Asian Studies, or a related field.
• Minimum of 7 years of professional experience in policy analysis, intelligence, diplomatic service, or strategic consulting focused on Southeast Asia.
• Exceptional analytical and writing skills, with a proven ability to distill complex geopolitical issues into clear, actionable insights.
• Fluency in English; proficiency in one or more regional languages (e.g., Filipino, Khmer, Vietnamese, Thai, Bahasa Indonesia) is highly desirable.
• Established network of contacts within regional governments, think tanks, or the corporate sector.
